£2,000 Boost for Apprenticeships

£2,000 Boost for Apprenticeships: More Opportunities for Teesside’s Young People
The government’s new £2,000 apprenticeship payment is a fantastic opportunity for Teesside’s young people and local businesses alike.
The government is investing in the future of our workforce and the future of Britain.
The grants are available to small and medium-sized businesses to help cover the costs of taking on young apprentices. The scheme will make it easier for local businesses to recruit, train and retain the skilled workforce they need to grow.
This is backed by the government’s additional £2.5 billion investment in the Youth Guarantee and the Growth and Skills Levy, which will deliver almost one million opportunities, including 50,000 more youth apprenticeships.
Employers will receive the grant in two instalments of £1,000:
👉🏻 The first payment will be made 90 days after the apprenticeship starts.
👉🏻 The second payment will be made one year after it starts, or after 242 days for a foundation apprenticeship, provided the apprentice is still employed.
For young people across Teesside, this could open doors to more apprenticeships in sectors such as manufacturing, engineering, construction, digital technology and green energy, providing valuable routes into long-term careers without the need for a traditional university path.
And for our community, it means:
👉🏻 Young people gaining skills and experience
👉🏻 More chances to build careers close to home
👉🏻 Local businesses benefiting from fresh talent and ideas
Together, these measures are part of the government’s drive to tackle youth unemployment and restore hope to communities.
