Manufacturers Could Cut Electricity Bills by Up to 25%

The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme will help manufacturers cut energy costs, invest in growth and support skilled jobs across Teesside and beyond
Applications are now open for the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS), helping manufacturers across Great Britain cut electricity bills by up to 25% and invest more in growth, jobs and innovation.
Supporting British industry is central to this governmentโs Plan for Change, tackling one of the biggest challenges facing manufacturers and helping reindustrialise Britain after years of high energy costs.
๐๐ป Eligible manufacturers can apply now for support from April 2027, with applications closing on 30 November
๐๐ป Electricity bills could be reduced by up to 25%, saving businesses hundreds of millions of pounds each year
๐๐ป Firms that apply this year could also receive an additional one-off payment worth around a yearโs support under the scheme
๐๐ป More than 10,000 businesses could benefit, including many small manufacturers in sectors such as aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing
For areas like Teesside, where manufacturing, chemicals, engineering and clean energy industries play a vital role in the local economy, lower energy costs could help businesses invest, expand operations and create skilled jobs.
By supporting local employers and attracting further investment into the region, the scheme has the potential to strengthen opportunities for workers and families across Teesside.
