Summer Small Boat Crossings Fall to Seven-Year Low

Joint action is cutting Channel crossings and disrupting people-smuggling gangs.
Real results from our action against the criminal gangs behind small boat crossings.
Summer crossings have fallen to a seven year low, with June, July and August recording the lowest combined total since 2019, despite warmer weather and calmer Channel conditions.
The figures speak for themselves:
June: down 50% compared with 2025
July: down 64% compared with 2025
August: down 46% compared with 2025
This is thanks to joint UK-French action, which prevented 185 crossing events between 27 April and 2 August alone, stopping launches, seizing boats and engines, and arresting suspected smugglers. That builds on more than 48,000 crossing attempts prevented since July 2024.
This is what serious, practical enforcement looks like. Smash the gangs, stop the boats.
