Celebrating the Impact of Scouting Across Cleveland
Over 900 young people enjoyed a fantastic Scout Fun Day on the moors, showcasing adventure, teamwork and community spirit.
Fantastic to join Cleveland County Scouts for their Fun Day out on the moors at Commondale!
It was so good to join one of the largest Scouting gatherings in the region for some time, with over 900 young people from across Cleveland in attendance.
After a couple of weeks that have been really challenging for the perception of our region and our young people it was great to see the very best of our community - brilliant volunteers giving up their time for our young people, and those young people themselves thriving in the outdoors.
I loved seeing kids out in the fresh air with no screens - they were taking part in exercises like archery and (plastic!) axe throwing plus the RNLI and the Royal Navy were in attendance.
It was great to see first-hand the incredible impact that Scouting has on young people, providing them with a place to belong along with skills for life through adventure, teamwork, leadership and community involvement.
Thanks to all those who volunteer with our squirrels, beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers to give our young people these great opportunities and help them fulfil their potential.
I’m looking forward to working with the scouts even more to see how we can grow their reach and support more young people across our area.
I hope you all had a brilliant day!
