BIG NEWS FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN REDCAR & CLEVELAND

We promised better mental health services in Redcar & Cleveland
We promised better mental health services in Redcar & Cleveland, and I’m incredibly proud that our Labour Government is delivering on that promise.
It doesn’t matter where I am or who I’m speaking to, mental health comes up time and time again. It affects families in every part of our community.
For too long, people have struggled to get help early enough, often waiting until things reach crisis point. That has to change.
Today I’m really pleased to confirm:
A new community mental health centre for Redcar & Cleveland, bringing support closer to home and allowing people to access walk-in help without a referral.
Roseberry Park, formerly St Luke’s Hospital, will become one of the new dedicated mental health emergency departments, providing specialist same-day care for adults experiencing a mental health crisis.
This is about something very simple: getting people the right help, in the right place, at the right time, and wherever possible, before they reach crisis point.
There is much more detail to come, and I’ll keep everyone updated as the plans develop.
But today, this is genuinely fantastic news for our area and something we have desperately needed for a long time. 🌹
