Our new border security deal with France has only just begun.
For the first time, the funding uplift will be conditional on results.
The deal will:
➡️ Deliver a 40% increase in law enforcement, intelligence and military officers on French beaches to track down and stop small boats.
➡️ Deploy a new unit of 50 police officers specially trained in the use of riot and crowd control tactics and equipment to deal with hostile crowds.
➡️ Speed up arrests and prosecutions of people-smugglers across the region.
➡️ Enhance surveillance with new drones, helicopters and a new camera system to track down and intercept people-smugglers.
➡️ Expand maritime tactics to target taxi boats in the Channel with a new vessel and an increase of more than 20 additional maritime officers.
