Bathing restrictions lifted as Anna continues push for answers

Anna welcomed the lifting of bathing restrictions along the local coastline while continuing to push for answers, transparency and action following the sewage incident.
The Environment Agency confirmed that precautionary advice against bathing along the local coastline had been lifted after repairs were completed to the damaged sewer pipe near Dockside Road.
Anna welcomed the news after a worrying week for residents, swimmers, local businesses and visitors who care deeply about our coastline.
While the repairs are complete, Anna has made clear that important questions still need answering.
During the incident, around 15,000m³ of sewage was being discharged into the estuary twice daily. Anna is calling for a full investigation into exactly what happened, how it happened and what needs to change to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Anna will continue working to protect Redcar & Cleveland’s beaches and ensure local people get the transparency and answers they deserve.
